From Somalia to Switzerland to San Diego's El Cajon Blvd
Co-owner Ahmed Hagisufi grew up in Switzerland after leaving Somalia. When he came to San Diego 25 years ago, he noticed something: the local Muslim community didn't have enough quality halal dining options. After seeing how halal restaurants thrived across Europe and the U.K., he knew the demand was there.
When the spot on El Cajon Blvd opened up near multiple mosques and SDSU, the timing was perfect. Halal Burger Co. was born, bringing African and Mediterranean flavors to the American classic. Every patty is handcrafted, every ingredient is fresh, and the halal certification isn't just a label, it's HFSAA-verified and ethically sourced.
Friday nights? The grill switches to Somali food only. Full house vibes. Come hungry, leave happy.
